Ottawa, ON (SportsNetwork.com) - Anze Kopitar and Trevor Lewis scored less than two minutes apart early in the third period, helping the Los Angeles Kings spoil Dave Camerons head coaching debut with a 5-3 victory over the Ottawa Senators. The two goals came almost immediately after Ottawas Mark Stone scored short- handed to tie the game at 2-2 just 1:44 into the final frame. Matt Greene, Justin Williams and Tanner Pearson also tallied to help the Kings bounce back after two straight losses. Jake Muzzin posted a career-best three assists, while Jonathan Quick came up with 32 saves for Los Angeles. There were two or three times in the game where we had good responses, Kings head coach Darryl Sutter said. Its not easy sailing. Cameron was elevated from assistant coach on Monday to replace Paul McLean, who was fired after the Senators dropped 13 of their last 17 games. Ottawa was able to overcome a 2-0 deficit on goals by Bobby Ryan and Stone, but gave up three in the third period to fall to 1-4-1 in its last six outings. Jared Cowen notched a goal and an assist in the loss, with Craig Anderson stopping 31-of-35 shots for Ottawa. I dont think we can be too upset with the effort, said Cowen. We just have to bring it for the whole game. A failed clearing attempt by Kings defenseman Drew Doughty led to Stones equalizer, but he and his teammates quickly regrouped to give Los Angeles back the lead while still on a 5-on-4 power play. Kopitar raced to the net with the Kings controlling the puck in the Ottawa zone, and Doughty found him with a pinpoint pass that set up a successful backhander that came just 36 seconds after Stones goal. Los Angeles continued to pressure the Senators while back ahead, and Lewis converted a centering pass from Tyler Toffoli while stationed in front of a defenseless Anderson to push the lead to 4-2 with 4:02 elapsed in the third. Anderson was pulled for an extra attacker with just over a minute to play, and the Senators plan worked when Cowen sent a shot that deflected off Muzzins stick and past Quick with 1:21 still to go. However, Pearson fought off a check shortly after the ensuing faceoff and fired the puck into the vacated net to seal it with 56.6 seconds left. The Senators started out very strong in Camerons debut, peppering Quick with eight shots before the Kings recorded their first. They outshot Los Angeles 14-5 for the first period, but Quick kept it scoreless by making several impressive saves -- including a close-range denial of Alex Chiasson that held up after a review. Los Angeles then went ahead just 1:47 into the second, when Greene wound up and fired a drive that caromed past a screened Anderson through heavy traffic. The Kings struck again near the midway mark of the period. Williams beat Sens defender Erik Karlsson for a puck sent down the boards by Muzzin, then fired a wrister through Andersons pads for a 2-0 advantage. A tremendous individual effort by Ryan enabled Ottawa to close the gap less than five minutes later. The talented wing blew past defenseman Brayden McNabb with a nifty move, then got Quick out of position before depositing home a backhand attempt. Game Notes The Kings had scored just eight goals over their previous five games ... Forward Milan Michalek (upper body) and defenseman Marc Methot (back/hip) both missed a second straight game for Ottawa, which also played without forward Clarke MacArthur (illness) ... The Kings improved to 12-0-3 this season when scoring first and 9-2-0 when recording a power-play goal ... Doughty finished with two assists. Matt Williams Jersey . It was well worth the wait. Manning and the Denver Broncos waited eight long months, then another 33 minutes to get the season started because of a lightning storm. Juan Marichal Jersey . The Arena das Dunas in the northeastern city of Natal sustained minor damage during the protests, but demonstrators stayed away on Sunday and officials said the stadium passed its first test, with only minor adjustments needed going forward. Dave Dravecky Jersey . -- The Orlando Magic have made no secret that the future of their franchise will depend on how well they can develop their young players. Mel Ott Jersey . Not to be outdone, Atletico Madrid bettered its title rivals by demolishing 10-man Getafe 7-0 with Diego Costa returning from injury to score with a brilliant bicycle kick. "It was an almost perfect night," Atletico coach Diego Simeone said. The Toronto Blue Jays will send left-hander J.A. Happ to the mound Wednesday afternoon looking to beat the Milwaukee Brewers in the finale of a quick two-game series. Happ is 2-1 over his past three starts, charged with eight earned runs over that time. However, seven of those came in an 11-1 loss at Cincinnati on June 21. Happ then rebounded on Thursday to beat the Chicago White Sox 7-0 behind 7 2/3 scoreless innings of four-hit ball. The 31-year-old struck out eight, moving to 7-4 with a 4.29 ERA on the year. "The goal was to be aggressive, to force contact early, use all four quadrants and just be aggressive," noted Happ, who is 3-3 with a 5.93 ERA in his career versus the Brewers. The Brewers meanwhile, hope that starter Wily Peralta can get locked in on Wednesday afternoon. Though Peralta has won five consecutive starts, he has posted a 4.22 earned run average over that span, one in which Milwaukee has scored at least seven runs four times. The right-handers past two wins both came against Colorado, including Thursdays 7-4 decision at home. Peralta gave up all four runs on eight hits and two walks over six frames, striking out seven. While he improved to 9-5 with a 3.20 earned run average on the year, manager Ron Roenicke still thinks the hurler can improve on the mound. "I thought the last three outings, (Wily) has pitched well, but hes not locked in," said Roenicke. "Now hes sttruggling to get through the lineups.dddddddddddd." The 25-year-old Peralta has never faced the Blue Jays, who send left-hander J.A. Happ to the mound today. The Blue Jays halted a three-game skid by taking Tuesdays opener 4-1. Drew Hutchison yielded just one run over seven innings while striking out a season- high 10 batters in his first victory since June 13. Jose Bautista, starting for the first time since June 22 due to a strained left hamstring, and Colby Rasmus each homered for the Blue Jays. Starting as the designated hitter, Bautista hit his 16th homer of the year. Ryan Braun drove in the lone run for the Brewers, who have lost two in a row after winning four straight. Marco Estrada started for Milwaukee and suffered the loss, allowing two runs on six hits over six-plus innings of work. He struck out two and walked one, losing for the first time since June 15. "Things just started going south for me," Estrada said. "I just wasnt really locating. I really didnt know what I was doing, how I was missing and the way I was missing. I was just out there throwing the ball around." Milwaukee could be without outfielder Khris Davis today as he injured his left shoulder on Tuesday diving into second base. The Brewers, who are making their first trip to Toronto since 2005, are 7-3 against the Blue Jays since moving to the National League in 1998.
